Saturday for lunch, Lance's former coworker met up with us and took us to eat at California Dreaming. We have one of these in Augusta, so I wasn't too excited about going for the food but it turned out to be perfect because I got to eat lunch and watch dolphins swim in the marina. This was too cool! Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to take pictures of the dolphins so you'll just have to visit yourself to see!
The rest of the day in Charleston was spent walking through the market and window shopping on King Street. I was able to get a few treasured finds in the market (will blog with my finished product soon) but King street shopping was a bit out of my budget.
Similar to Savannah, the horse & carriage rides are the highlight downtown. We didn't opt to take one, but I think next time we will. At some point, we will have to act like tourists and give in and pay for these type of tours. They take you all over downtown and probably give background to most places.
The most predominant item sold in the markets and really all over Charleston are the hand made Sweetgrass Basket. One of these little guys, literally like the small ones up front, go for about $30-45. I didn't buy one, so instead I took this picture for price-less memories :-)
Lance are I are "like peas & carrots"...for real. I love this man so dang much and it is so much fun to travel with him.
For dinner, we decided to check out Hyman's Seafood. We were a little skeptical because it seemed so touristy, but we ended up really enjoying the food. I would highly recommend this place for dinner if you're ever in the Charleston area. The scallops are deliciooooooous!
After dinner we just walked & walked & walked & walked. My legs were so sore the next day, but it was worth it. We ventured out and just looked at all the buildings and people and enjoyed our evening.

We ended the night by waiting in line for 10-15 minutes at the packed out Kaminsky's and taking dessert & two big cups of milk back to the room. A coworker recommended this place and said that we would need to find an excuse to go there. Well, birthday dessert is always a good excuse. I don't know how I failed to take a picture of our awesome dessert, but I think you can imagine the tastiness by checking out the selection below.
We ended our trip by going to see the historical Rainbow Row before we headed out Sunday. I'm not sure I truly captured the "Rainbow" portion but I did at least take some pictures of some really old houses. The first picture of me standing in front of the water is directly across the street from these beautiful houses. Oh how nice it would be to live here!
And alas, as with all trips Lance & I go on, we end up finding the best hot dogs in town. Per a recommendation from my bff Emily, we checked out Jack's Cosmic Dogs in Mt. Pleasant, SC. I had the classic "Cosmic Dog" which was covered with Blue Cheese coleslaw and sweet potato mustard. Yummmmmmmmmy!!
So our trip to Charleston was just what we needed. I think I prefer Savannah to Charleston, but that may be due to the familiarity that I have with Savannah. Who knows. We will be back to Charleston eventually, but until then, goodbye Charleston...
