Yacht club fun

I'm always a little delayed on my blogging, but at least it sometimes eventually happens.

A few weekends ago, Lance and I joined our friends Kathryn and Chris in Hilton Head. They were gracious enough to share a bedroom in their yacht club condo. This was my first time to the island and it was such a blast. We experienced all sorts of new things included going kayaking for my first time!  I had a little rough time getting started learning how to paddle, but I eventually got the hang of it.  While we were out on our 2 hour guided sunset tour, we were able to see dolphins!!  They were swimming all around us - it was so unreal.  Hands down, this was the best part of our trip.

That is Kathryn on the right, just a few feet away from the dolpin.

We met Callie the deer.

Lance in his kayak, looking so cute.

A few more snippets from our trip, including a group photo, picture of a parrot at the Salty Dog Cafe and the view from our yacht club room.

I am looking forward to many more summer vacations and spending quality time with my main [and really cute] squeeze.

Until the next time,
Callie

I like to move it, move it

Today is my Friday!  We've got a long weekend ahead of us, but at least I am off tomorrow.  We'll be heading down to the big ole city of Albany (4 hours south) to hang out with the fam and to pack up my mom's stuff.  She's moving to Tallahassee (2 additional hours south).   Saturday will be a loooonnngg day of moving furniture in the heat, but it will be worth it to help get my mom and little sisters set up.  I've been missing my sisters.. I love these goobers so much!!

Another highlight of my weekend will be eating at Chipotle!!  I crave it all the time, and unfortunately Augusta hasn't got the memo that I need a Chipotle to survive.  I've already informed everybody that I WILL be eating there this weekend.  I mean, look at this goodness all snuggled up in a bowl!!!!!!!  Oh gosh, I gotta stop thinking about this for now.  Chicken burrito bowl, we will meet again Saturday!!  I am so excited....can you tell?!?

So needless to say, my weekend will be filled with lots of love, driving all over the state, and much needed time with my family.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Until the next time,
Callie

Mermaids are real!

To sum up this long weekend, I got entirely too much sleep and watched entirely too much T.V.  It was a great weekend!

To start it off, we went to a Green Jackets game with our cousins Kristal & Stephen.  Lance got free tickets from this company, so we decided to check out the local minor league team.  It was so much fun!  Very different from a Braves game, of course, but I think we will be back.   I wish I had taken Precious, but picture phone pictures will have to work instead.

Notice the guy sitting behind me.  When we first arrived, we realized our seats were on a row with 5 seats, with one seat already taken by the big guy in blue.  Of course, I decided since I was going to be squeezed between him and Lance, that I should try to make small conversation.  Well that small conversation turned into a big one as the guy refused to quit talking to me.  To recap my conversation with him, we discussed boiled peanuts, Albany, Dr. Phil and fat people.  Gotta love the situations that I get myself into!

Lance hates taking pictures with me, so this was my attempt to get a picture of the two of us with the field in the background.

On Sunday, we grilled delicious hot dogs at home.

 Lance's dogs

 These hot dogs were HUGE!

And on Sunday, we spent the day with family.  We ate good food, had good conversation, and played in the pool.  I love these kind of days!  AK was, as always, our little princess for the day and I think she is ready for Hollywood with this outfit!!

To end the long weekend, we spent all day yesterday watching T.V. and snuggling on the couch.  We caught up on a bunch of our shows and then stumbled upon Animal Planet's Mermaids - The Body Found.  I was hooked after about 5 seconds.  I know this stuff is probably 99.9% fake, but it is so fun to watch!

Then we stayed up way past our bedtime and watched the Hatfields & Mccoys on the History Channel.  It is a 3 part mini series, so we'll be up late again tonight.  I didn't think I would be too into it, but it actually is quite interesting.

Until the next time,

I'm going to lunch!

I eat lunch at my desk most every day.  I do so to save money, to ensure that I eat healthy, and on some occasions, because I am too busy to leave.  I was trained to eat at my desk at PwC.  You only left for lunch if you were a) on an out of town client b) going out with the team or c) putting in your 2 weeks notice and saying to heck with it.  At my new job, it would be okay for me to take a lunch, I just choose not to most of the time.

But today, I decided I need to take my lunch!  Quiznos sent me a coupon where I could get a small sub, chips and a drink for $2.99!!  Now you know I love a deal!!  After figuring out which sub I could eat, and still come in under my calories for the day, I ventured out for my lunch excursion.

I work in downtown Augusta, on the river, so there is always much to see when I get out and about.  When I first started my walk towards Quiznos, I passed by a lovely couple having an argument.  It was very...awkward.  I proceeded on trying not to make eye contact.

Quiznos is actually in the building right across from my building, but I decided to take the long walk on the riverwalk.  I was debating on my way over there if I wanted to get it to go, or stay and eat - and when the lady asked me if this was to go or for here, I thought about it for one more quick second and said very excitedly "For here!"  I'm a dork.  She knew it, I know it.  So I decided to eat my lunch outside so that I could enjoy the day.  Great decision!! As soon as I sat down, a jazz player set up shop and started playing music.  What a perfect lunch!

I finished eating my delicious lunch, and then headed back out for my walk back to my lovely job.  Right across the river is South Carolina, and particularly a bunch of rich South Carolinian's.   Maybe one day I can have enough money to buy this beautiful pepto-bismol looking house!  I mean, with that kind of money, I would definitely want a house that looked like this.........

I like it here in Augusta.  Sometimes I feel like I am back in the big city, especially when I get out on days like this and there is so much going on downtown.  But then I get in my car, and traffic moves, and I quickly realize that I am where I am supposed to be!

Until the next time,
Callie

Plant killer

In the midst of my boredom last night, in between coloring my hair and watching American Idol, I went down memory lane and looked at the pictures on my cellphone.  I stumbled across a picture of the beautiful Bromeliad that I bought for my office.  Sadly, this beautiful plant is no longer beautiful.  I look at it everyday, and think to myself that I should try to make it come back alive...but I just want it to magically happen....

before & after

In reference to having kids, Lance always picks on me and says that I can't even keep our plants alive.  But I'm thinking that having kids will be a whole other story, right?  I think so, so I won't get so bogged down on the fact that I've let my beautiful plant become ugly.  At least I think it is still alive, in some way or fashion?!?

In other news, I know I was all fussy that everyone kept talking about Phillip Phillips on American Idol, but I think I became one of those people last night.  I must have voted for him 20+ times online.  His last song really hit home, and it just struck me that it really was so cool that a small town boy was about to get his life turned upside down.  And it doesn't hurt that he really is good looking!  I'm all for Phillip Phillips now, and I hope he wins tonight!!

Until the next time,
Callie

InstaFriday

life rearranged

Link up the everyday moments of your week!

I can't believe, this is a record for me.  This is my third blog this week!  Unfortunately, work has been very slow this week so I've had some spare time.  I can't stand having too much free time....I know, I'm weird!

My little sister starts high school next year.  It has been very hard for me to comprehend this...I can only imagine how tough it will be when I have my own kids.  Mags was born when I was in 8th grade.  She was so teeny tiny, and just so darn cute as a kid.  Last few years, she has really become a teenager and has pulled away from me a bit.  I don't talk to her much these days because she seems to be so busy with extracurricular activities and her friends.  Makes me sad sometimes, but I know she is just going through a phase.  She is all over the Internet, as most teens are these days, and I stumbled upon her Instagram post the other day...made me tear up a bit.  I think you can see why below:

I've been a bit down past few weeks, months, I don't know how long really.  Been struggling with my weight, dieting, working out, pimples, getting old, etc.  Life seems to be catching up with me.  I took this photo the other day on my way to work because I actually felt pretty.  Really took to share with the hubster, but I thought I would include here as well.  Life is good!  I need to remember that.

I took an extra long lunch break yesterday and got a mani/pedi.  Just what I needed!  And of course I had to have good looking nails for my girls weekend coming up.  I wear OPI Cajun Shrimp all spring/summer/most of fall/okay all year long.  I tried to change it up, but I just can't.  This is my fave color!

Yum.  Delicious Coffee Toffee cake from Boll Weevil after a delicious dinner with friends the other weekend.  I couldn't resist!

And getting to see this girl tomorrow!!!  I haven't seen Kimmie in several years as she has been living in South Korea.  Looking forward to spending some quality time with her and having lots of fun at the concert.

Until the next time,
Callie

It's Ok Thursday!

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Okay...

That my workout didn't really "work out" this morning.  My feet still hurt from the horrible 5K that I did this weekend, and it was raining and thundering.  So there, those are my excuses for the day!

That my closet is overflowing with clothes, and that I hate most of them.  I think it is time for spring cleaning in the summer!

To be frustrated with my work situation.  I mean, if it was all daisies and sunshine every day at work, we wouldn't want to go home, right?

That I am going to get a mani/pedi during my lunch break.  I deserve it.

To be so excited to be going to Atlanta this weekend with my college roommate!  We are going to see the Jason Aldean show, and Luke Bryan will be there as well.  I can't wait to get my country on!

To be white as a piece of paper.  I don't like the sun, so I stay white.  Ok? Ok.

Until the next time,
Callie
